We Jammin'

I love the color of this jam based cocktail. I love the simplicity of it. And I especially love the memory it evoked from Beth as she shared the recipe with me! Who doesn’t remember those perfectly carefree days at school (or at least your early 20’s), when sitting on the porch and sipping a cocktail with friends was the ideal way to spend and afternoon!? We should probably all do a little more porch sitting. I imagine it’s good for us.

This cocktail is easily made with pantry staples. And Beth isn’t too particular about what flavors you use. The basics are jam, citrus and honey (or honey simple syrup, which can be found in her book). From there add gin or vodka…or both. Shake and enjoy! For our video, we used a strawberry jam and fresh squeezed lemon juice, along with some of Beth’s honey simple syrup. You might think the drink would end up sweet between the jam and the honey, but it’s perfectly balanced. Just sweet enough to make vodka/gin not too harsh, with a little zing from the citrus. This is really a great way to enjoy these last few weeks of outdoor weather before we all get cooped up in our homes for winter! Enjoy this cocktail with friends and some sunshine!
